Bringing global standards of health and safety to India

Taco Bell, one of the world’s leading Mexican-inspired restaurant brand, entered India in 2010 with its first restaurant in Bangalore. The brand currently operates 57 restaurants in India, with presence across 16 key cities, including Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, and Kochi, amongst others. Taco Bell is a subsidiary of Yum! Brands Inc.

In line with its global expansion plans, the brand announced Burman Hospitality Pvt. Ltd as its master franchise partner for India in 2019. The collaboration aims to make India Taco Bell’s largest market outside of the United States, with the objective of opening more than 600 Taco Bell restaurants in the country by 2029.

ET Hospitality spoke with Mandeep Singh Sethi, Vice President – Operations, Burman Hospitality Pvt Ltd — Taco Bell’s Master Franchise Partner in India — about the impact of the lockdown and what the restaurant chain was planning for once it was alright to resume operations.
